![]() John PetersenBorn in Michigan in 1963, John began his fine art studies with Allan Banks at The Atelier of Plein Air Studies in Safety Harbor, Florida. He continued his education by studying at the Ingbretson Studio of Drawing and Painting in Manchester, New Hampshire, where he learned to paint in a tradition passed down from the great ateliers of nineteenth century Paris. This style of painting had been passed down through the Boston School to his teacher Paul Ingbretson from R.H. Ives Gammell.Whether outdoors painting landscapes or in the studio painting still lifes, John focuses on depicting the splendor of the visual world. His work has been featured at the Academic Artists Associations National Exhibition, the Bryan Memorial Gallery Land and Light Juried Exhibition, and the Copley Society of Boston Juried Show.
